Are Webinars effective?
I have always done the CFO to CEO session live with a group over lunch.  We are considering doing the session as a webinar so we can reach out to more CFOs who cannot get to the live meeting.  Does anyone have any thoughts on whether webinars are any good or have any suggestions on how to make them better and most effective?
Interview for CFO to CEO study - a hot topic!
I was interviewed on February 8, 2008 by a graduate student at Pepperdine University on the subject of moving from CFO to CEO.  Of course that is a subject near and dear to my heart.  She is interviewing a bunch of folks who have successfully made the move from CFO to CEO.  As soon as she finsihes her paper and study, I will get a copy of the results and post them on the blog for all to see.

And she even sent me a small bowl of chocolates for participating in the session.  Nice!
Self Insight

Self insight is critical to understanding how to leverage your strengths, unlock your potential and move to the next level such as the CEO job. If you are interested in discussing your career, possibly taking an executive assessment to further understand your leadership potential, personality and style, and receiving a feedback/coaching session, I recommend you call Dr. George Watts, Managing Partner of AST. (www.astmanagement.net).

Besides being a real character, Dr. Watts has interviewed and tested over 5,000 executives and I have enjoyed a long, successful partnership with his firm. Dr. Watts' radio program, Seeds for Success, can be heard every Sunday from 11:00- 12:00 Noon on WPCT AM 820 in Chicago, or on the internet at wcptam820.com. The program is all about unlocking career success. Call Dr. Watts at 847 345 3272 or email him: George@astmanagementinc.com.

Please be sure to tell George that you are contacting him via this message and this blog.  I really believe it is a good idea to get an assessment about where you are so you can start working on some of the things which are necessary to go beyond the CFO role.

If anyone ends up doing this or has done it already, please tell us what you think of the process. Was it worthwhile?

Welcome

Welcome to my blog (I never actually thought I would say something like that!).

I am very pleased to establish this unique forum to share ideas, answer questions and provide career development advice for those accounting and finance executives who are looking to move into another role.  I am doing a live session called “From CFO to CEO” in some cities around the US and the dialogue and discussion has been great.  I was fortunate enough to be a CFO who became a CEO and it changed my life in many positive ways.  I also have made plenty of mistakes and learned a lot along the way and I want to share those experiences with you.

I am sure this “Blog” will evolve as time goes on.  Feel free to share this “Blog” with any of your associates who might want to participate or might find it useful.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you,
